American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Super cute gelato spot right next to El Punto. I only had room to try one flavor, so I went with cotton candy and I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t overpowering, just the right amount of sweetness, and the marshmallows were a nice touch. It kind of reminded me of an ice cream I used to have as a kid in Singapore, which made it even better. I’ll definitely be coming back.

So sad we didn’t find this stand sooner! We will be returning every weekend now. Homemade gelato run by the sweetest couple. The gelato is incredible and tastes so fresh. Their flavors are fantastic. Black sesame is my favorite. They also have bubble tea and waffles, as well as dairy free ice cream. We will be back again and again!

I stopped by Lulu’s in Newberry and was seriously impressed! The shop may be small, but the flavors are big and bold. I tried the taro and it was amazing—super creamy with just the right balance of sweetness and earthiness. You can tell they put real care into what they serve. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole place had a cozy, welcoming vibe. It’s definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area. I’ll be coming back to try more flavors for sure!

Such a great little stand, too many favorites to name. The lemon sorbet is my favorite, creamy and kind of like an icebox lemon pie in a cup. I’ve never had anything here that was not carefully flavored and just exceptional.

LuLu's was a great surprise! Owners were very nice. The Gelato is out of this world good. We stopped here to enjoy a dog break, and the back of the business has a beautiful shaded dog area. Try as many flavors as you'd like, and be sure to get a treat for the puppies.
